The incident began around 9:06 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, when an alert by the Westchester County police Real Time Crime Center advised patrol units that a stolen Honda CRV was traveling southbound on the Hutchinson River Parkway, said Kieran O'Leary, spokesman for the Westchester County Police.
Patrol officers located the vehicle near East Lincoln Avenue and attempted to pull it over, but the driver refused to comply, he said.
Officers followed the stolen car south to the Boston Post Road exit on the Bronx-Westchester border, where the vehicle left the Hutch, traveled through several local streets in the Bronx and then entered northbound I- 95.
The stolen car continued north on I-95 and eventually collided with two other cars in the vicinity of Playland Parkway, O'Leary added.
Two people in one of the cars suffered minor injuries and were taken to Greenwich Hospital.
The driver of the stolen car, identified as Adonis Duarte, 23, of New Haven, Conn., and a female passenger were taken into custody, he said,
After a subsequent investigation, Duarte was charged and the passenger was released.
Durate was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, and unlawful fleeing a police officer.
He is also wanted by West Haven Police on a warrant charging him with first-degree robbery.
